Yayasan Mitra Museum Jakarta (Friends of Jakarta Museums Foundation) envisions Jakarta museums, starting with museums under the Jakarta provincial government, to become excellent centres of education, entertainment, and recreation; where citizens of and visitors to the city will be able to gain historical, artistic, and cultural knowledge and experience.
Along the way, the organization will work with stakeholders and the provincial government to aid these museums in their development towards better infrastructure, human resources, museum management, curatorial content, public programs, as well as marketing. It is our hope that these museums will be able to exist as sources of insights and inspirations for citizens and tourists alike.
As our pilot project, the Foundation has helped revitalize Museum Seni Rupa & Keramik (the Fine Arts & Ceramics Museum) in Kota Tua (the Old Town Square). The revitalization is hoped to touch every part of the museum, from infrastructure to curatorial content. Not only should the museum building boast a new visual appearance, but it would also offer enlightening programs and educational exhibitions that revel in research. Visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of experiences, ranging from leisure, entertainment, and education.
